More drama in notorious Fen Road

People on the now notorious Fen Road were disturbed by a "loud bang" after a car was set on fire.

The bang reportedly caused windows along the street to shake and shudder.

Firefighters rushed to the scene at 11.15pm last night (May 15), where the car was burning.

Windows of the car have been smashed as a well and the interior of the car "blackened".

It took crews around 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze and the cause of the fire has been labelled "deliberate" by the fire service.

Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue said: "On Tuesday , May 15, at 11.12pm, one crew from Cambridge was called to a car fire on Fen Road, Chesterton.

Over the last few weeks Fen Road in Chesterton has been a hotbed of anti-social behaviour leading people to say the area is "in crisis."

This is the latest incident after reports of street racing and assaults with dead animals on the road earlier this month.
