A dangerous driver was caught on dashcam clipping a lorry and smashing into a car after being distracted by his phone on a busy dual carriageway.

Craig Barlow was filmed swerving across the road while he sped his flatbed truck along the A1.

Here's what all of that Brexit jargon actually means

Shocking footage taken from a car behind shows the 34-year-old undertaking vehicles before colliding with a lorry that was travelling in the slow lane.

The impact sent Barlow’s vehicle ploughing into the safety barrier before he careered back across the carriageway and into the side of a woman’s car.

Incredibly, the 46-year-old driver did not suffer serious injuries in the crash which happened on the northbound carriageway of the A1 on August 8.

The court heard witnesses saw Barlow on his phone minutes before the collision and this was backed up telephone evidence.

After the case, Detective Constable Nick Wood, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: ‘Luckily, there were no injuries as a result of Barlow’s dangerous driving, but to be honest I don’t know how.

‘The manner in which he was driving combined with the fact he was on his phone if a recipe for devastation.
