A 19-year-old who went missing on a work night out has been found dead.

Liam Toner, 19, had not been seen since 10pm on Friday, when he was out with colleagues in Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire.

His family and friends made an urgent appeal to find him after he reportedly dropped his mobile phone near a taxi office in Cleethorpe Road, Grimsby.

Tragically, he was later found dead in Holton-le-Clay.

Superintendent Dave Houchin, from Humberside Police, said: ‘We can confirm that we are linking our investigation into a missing person with the report of the body of a young man being found in Holton-le-Clay in Lincolnshire.

‘Humberside Police officers are working closely together with our colleagues at Lincolnshire Police to establish the circumstances.

‘Initial indications are that this is sadly a tragic incident in which a young man has passed away.’

Tributes have poured in on Facebook, with one friend saying: ‘Such a cruel horrible world, a childhood friend has lost his life at the age of 19.

‘In utter shock. May you rest in peace you angel Liam Toner. So so sorry for your loss I send my love to you all.’

Another posted: ‘Rip kidda. I can’t believe it. You was like my lil bro growing up! You’re gonna be missed rip Liam Toner shine bright matey.’

Earlier this month in the run up to the festive season, Humberside Police advised people to take extra care when out celebrating.

At the start of the month the force issued advice as part of Operation Yuletide.

A spokesman said: ‘As part of Op Yuletide, we’re reminding people to stop and think about their safety, and the safety of those around them.

‘Whether that’s by booking a taxi in advance, walking away from trouble or by knowing your limits.’
