“Last night, David Eaton tendered his resignation from NFL Media effective immediately,” the NFL said in a statement yesterday.
The Twitter exchanges reportedly were with prostitutes and adult-film actresses over the span of several years. Eaton’s Twitter account has been deleted.
The resignation comes less than two weeks after the NFL Network suspended retired players and analysts following allegations by a former employee that they sexually harassed her. In a lawsuit filed against NFL Enterprises in Los Angeles Superior Court, former wardrobe stylist Jami Cantor accused retired players Marshall Faulk and Ike Taylor as well as analyst Heath Evans and former NFL Network executive producer Eric Weinberger, who is now president of sports commentator Bill Simmons’s media group, of sexual harassment.
Since joining the NFL in 2011, the 53-year-old Eaton oversaw news operations for the NFL Network and NFL.com.
