A woman has been stabbed to death inside an Aldi supermarket.
She is believed to have been at work at the time when a man in his 40s attacked her at the branch in Skipton, North Yorkshire.
Shoppers were reportedly told to leave their trolleys and ‘get out’ as staff and member of the public ‘pinned down’ the man until police arrived.
The man has now been arrested and has been taken into custody.
A police cordon is currently in place as forensic teams investigate the scene.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: ‘Police have arrested a man on suspicion of murder after a woman was stabbed at the Aldi supermarket in Skipton.
‘Emergency services were called to the store on Keighley Road at 3.27pm today.
‘The suspect, who is aged in his 40s, was initially detained by staff before being arrested by the police. He has been taken into custody for questioning.
‘A police scene guard is in place at Aldi while enquiries continue.
‘Witnesses or anyone with information that could assist the investigation are urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 1, and speak to the Force Control Room.
