Meghan Markle is said to be devastated after her much-loved dog Guy broke two legs shortly after arriving in the UK.
Prince Harry‘s fiancee brought the beagle, who was rescued from a shelter, to Britain from her Toronto home earlier this year after a lengthy checking process.
The decision was said to be ‘heartbreaking’ for Meghan as she was forced to seperate the pup from her other dog, a labrador-shepherd cross named Bogart.
Bogart was deemed too old to travel and had to be left behind in Canada.
Now it has emerged Guy has suffered an accident that left him with serious injuries.
According to the Mail on Sunday, the dog has two broken legs after an incident that happened some time after the royal engagement was announced.
He is being treated by TV supervet Professor Noel Fitzpatrick, it is claimed.
Mr Fitzpatrick is renowned for his expertise as an orthopaedic-neuro surgeon.
Sources told the Mail on Sunday that Meghan is ‘very upset’ and ‘distraught’ about Guy’s accident.
The 36-year-old spoke about both her dogs during the couple’s first televised interview since the announcement, explaining: ‘Well I have two dogs that I’ve had for quite a long time, both my rescue pups.
‘One is now staying with very close friends and my other little guy is – yes he’s in the UK, he’s been here for a while.
‘I think he’s doing just fine.’
Harry’s communication secretary, Jason Knauf, confirmed that Bogart ‘is not coming’ to the UK, and that he is now living with Meghan’s friends.
Meghan previously described her dogs as ‘my boys’ and gushed that they ‘mean the absolute world’ to her.
