Well this certainly sounds like an intriguing club – wonder what kind of activities are on offer?
Oh, wait, no – to clear up any confusion, that’s actually transport for the Churchill and Langford Minibus Society, and not the Churchill Anus Society.
Get your mind out of the gutter.
The unfortunate mix-up is now set to be discussed at the next Churchill parish council meeting, to decide what should be done about it.
Malcolm Metts the council chairman, said: ‘We are a not for profit organisation, the minibus society that is, and so the cost of changing the wording on the door will have to be considered carefully.
‘It may be something that we cannot actually afford to do.
‘We also won’t be able to change the wording on the bus as we are a registered charity.
‘We would have to try and move the wording of Churchill and Langford Minibus Society further along the vehicle.’
The minibus society owns two buses which take people from the villages surrounding Weston-super-Mare into town eight times during each two-week period.
Malcolm explained that the service provides a vital lifeline to those living in the area.
The council has been keen to apologise to anybody offended.
Laura Batt, the booking secretary for the minibus, said: ‘We have been made aware of this situation and this will be addressed in the New Year as we have had a shortage of funds and not been in a position to have the signage amended before.
‘Obviously no offence was intended to the general public.
‘The wording will be corrected as soon as possible.
‘We have been running our Minibus Society for over 42 years and have not had any issues previously.’
