Thomas Markle Jr, 51, said his famous sister ‘obviously’ had a family, and they celebrated every holiday together.
He said his 73-year-old father, who lives in Mexico and hasn’t met Harry, will be offended by his comments made on Radio 4, the Daily Mail reports.
The prince was asked about spending Christmas with his fiancé Meghan when he guest edited the Today Programme on Wednesday.
Harry said Meghan really enjoyed her time with the Queen and the rest of the royals at Sandringham.
But at the end of the interview, Harry added that the royals were ‘the family she’s never had’.
Prince Harry, 33, said Meghan had done ‘an amazing job’ adapting to family traditions, adding: ‘She’s getting in there and it’s the family that I suppose she’s never had.’
But Thomas Jr said Harry’s claim was not a true reflection of the Markle family.
‘Obviously, she had a family,’ he said.
‘She was very privileged. She got everything she ever wanted. We did the best that we could in terms of getting together for holidays and whatnot.’
When asked about their father, Thomas Markle Sr, he added: ‘My father will be extremely hurt, actually.
‘He dedicated the majority of all his time and everything to her. He made sure she had what she needed to be successful and get to where she’s at today.’
His comments follow those made by Meghan’s half-sister Samantha Markle, who said the Suits actress grew up surrounded by a huge family.
Samantha, who is Meghan’s half-sister from her father Thomas Markle’s first marriage, wrote on Twitter: ‘Actually she has a large family who were always there with her and for her.
‘Our household was very normal and when dad and Doria divorced, we all made it so it was like she had two houses.
‘No one was estranged, she was just too busy.’
