A woman has described winning £4,000,000 on a Lottery scratchcard as the ‘fairytale ending’ to her transgender journey.
Melissa Ede from Hull, first hit headlines after appearing on Jeremy Kyle to try and raise £15,000 for a set of new teeth.
However, today it was revealed she had hit the jackpot – winning 260 times that amount.
Speaking out following the windfall, the 57-year-old taxi driver said she is now planning to marry her fiancee and write her autobiography.
She said: ‘The transgender fight to where I am now has been a difficult path.
‘I received my operation almost seven years ago and I am really proud of who I am today.
‘I now want to help others in similar situations and believe my autobiography will do just this.
‘What a fairytale ending. It is all just like a dream.’
Ms Ede was seen celebrating at a press conference in Willerby, near Hull, today after scooping a top prize of £4 million on the Blue Scratchcard from National Lottery GameStore.
Ms Ede said she told staff at the garage where she bought the winning card: ‘You’ve just given me £4 million – 2018 is going to be the best year ever.’
Melissa is well-known for her online videos which have received millions of views and she has thousands of followers on Facebook.
They mostly feature her singing in skimpy outfits with items often attached to her chest – including bottles of tomato ketchup and mayonnaise.
Melissa was previously whittled down to the last few hundred in the world out of 200,000 people who applied to join a Space mission to Mars and has appeared on Jeremy Kyle and Judge Rinder.
