A family were left heartbroken after vandals set fire to a grave where several loved ones are buried.
Elizabeth Hamilton said cleaning up the torched mess was like burying her mother ‘all over again’.

Her mother, Elizabeth Daly, and her mother’s partner, Gerry McDaid, were both laid to rest there when they died in 2009.
Ms Hamilton’s partner, Billy Hamilton, 31, is also buried at the plot.
She said: ‘You have no idea how heartbreaking it is. I am burying my mum all over again.


‘There were beer bottles smashed all around the grave, they smashed the photo, and destroyed ornaments and other things before they set the grave alight.’
Police were called to St Conval’s Cemetery in Barrhead, Renfrewshire, Scotland, on Monday.

The damage to Elizabeth and Gerry’s gravestone was so bad a stonemason said it will need to be replaced.
Gerry’s granddaughter Shelly McArthur said she is in shock, adding: ‘It is so sickening to think anyone could do that.
‘My granddad and Elizabeth were two people who never harmed anyone, and this has made me sick to the stomach.

‘I haven’t been able to sleep since I found out and I keep asking why has it happened.’

The family are appealing for anyone with information to make themselves known to police.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: ‘Police were called around 11.25pm on Monday, January 8, to a report of damage to a grave within St Conval’s cemetery in Barrhead.
‘Police enquiries are continuing.’
