The weather front originated in Portugal, and is heading for the UK. We can expect it here tomorrow and into Friday (March 1 and 2).

Forecasters predict gale force winds, snow and freezing rain, and the effects are expected to be felt throughout the weekend. It's possible the Met Office will upgrade weather warnings to amber or even red.

Friday (March 2)

Currently a Met Office yellow warning of snow and ice is in place, but it will be the winds generated by Storm Emma that will be the predominant factor.

Temperatures will be a little higher than this week so far, although they are still expected to average -1C.

Saturday (March 3)

The yellow warning remains in place, with icy roads and pavements the biggest threat.

Temperatures will rise above zero during the day, but the wind will make it feel much colder.

Sunday (March 4)

Not too bad after all we've been through this week.

It'll be cloudy and overcast during the day, but it will be less cold, and we may even get through Sunday night without a ground frost.
