A man who was randomly attacked in Huntingdon was punched and kicked so hard to the head that he needed facial surgery, police have revealed.

The attack took place in Huntingdon High Street, outside the William Hill betting shop, in the early hours of Sunday morning (April 8).

At approximately 2am, the victim – a man in his 30s – was approached by another man in a navy blue tracksuit.

The man, who was also wearing a hat, punched the victim to the face. The force of the blow caused the victim to fall to the floor, police said.

The victim was then kicked several times in the face while on the floor, leaving him with several large cuts.

The attacker managed to escape the scene on foot –and the victim was then helped by strangers before being taken to hospital by the ambulance service.

DC Neil Gibbs said: “This random assault by a stranger has understandably left the victim shaken and requiring facial surgery.

“We are appealing for anyone with information to come forward to ensure this man is brought to justice before he commits another act of violence on an innocent person.”
