Why the fire service was called to Chesterton TWICE yesterday

Fire crews were called to two separate house fires in Chesterton within only a few hours.

Fire crews were called to two separate house fires in Chesterton within only a few hours.

Yesterday (April 13) at 10.02am, two crews from Cambridge were called to a flat fire on Chesterton Road, West Chesterton.

Firefighters arrived to find a fire in the bathroom of a second floor flat.

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters used one hose reel and a C02 extinguisher to put the fire out.

The cause of the fire is believed to have been accidental, and crews returned to their station by 11.30am.

Later that day, at 1.51pm, two crews from Cambridge were called to a house fire on High Street, East Chesterton.

Crews arrived to find a fire in the bathroom of the house.

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters used one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.

A positive pressure ventilation fan was also used to clear the smoke.

Everyone in the house was accounted for, and the crews returned to their station by 2.50pm.

The cause of this fire is also believed to be accidental.
