More than 900 runners turned out for the 10th annual Cambourne 10k today (April 15).

More than 900 runners turned out for the 10th annual Cambourne 10k today (April 15).

The 10k route meanders through woodland and wildlife meadows, with a finish described by organisers as 'one of the most inspiring in the country.

The winner of the race around the South Cambridgeshire village was David Wilson from the Thames Hare and Hounds club, who completed the course in 33 minutes and 42 seconds.

In second place was David Hudson from BRJ Run and Tri with a time of 34 minutes and three seconds.

The fastest woman on the route was local Becky Hair from Cambridge and Coleridge AC, who ran the 10k in 40 minutes and 45 ceonds.

In second place among the female runners was Toni Alcaraz with a time of 41 minutes and 25 seconds.

Alongside the 10k, there was a one-mile fun run for younger runners, which was won by Isaac Rothwell from Cambridge and Coleridge with a time of 5 minutes and 41 seconds.

The event was raising money for local charities Arthur Rank Hospice and the Cambridge and Coleridge Athletics Trust.
