A14 to remain closed westbound until 9.45pm after serious collision

The A14 westbound will remain closed until 9.45pm following a serious collision between a pedestrian..

The A14 westbound will remain closed until 9.45pm following a serious collision between a pedestrian and a heavy goods vehicle.

The road will remain closed closed near Woolpit between junctions 47 and 45 while Suffolk Police investigations continue.

Highways England report there are 1.74 miles of congestion leading up to the closure and drivers are advised to allow for extra travelling time.

An East Anglian air ambulance attended and one male is reported to have suffered serious injuries.

A Suffolk police spokesman said: "We were called at 1.10pm to reports of a serious road traffic collision on the westbound carriageway.

"An air ambulance took one male with serious injuries to Addenbrooke's for treatment.

"The road is still closed westbound and eastbound was closed for a short time to allow the air ambulance to land."

Diversions are in place

Diversions are in place at junction 47 on the A1088 towards Ixworth.

At the roundabout with the A143 take the first exit to travel south on the A143 and continue until the junction with the A14 at J43.

Take the entry slip road and rejoin A14 northbound to continue your journey.
