Appeal to find French bulldog puppy stolen from garden where children played

A Cambridgeshire family are desperate to be reunited with their beloved French bulldog pup Polly.

A Cambridgeshire family are desperate to be reunited with their beloved French bulldog pup Polly.

Polly, a blue brindle-coloured pup, was stolen from the front garden of Churchill Road, in Gorefield near Wisbech, on Tuesday (April 17).

Claire Sutton's children were playing in the garden and had just popped inside for a drink when their pet was snatched around 5pm.

Polly's devastated family have now put out a reward for her safe return. They are also deeply concerned for the dog's wellbeing because Polly relies on medication for ongoing intestinal problems.

Debbie Matthews of the charity DogLost, which helps reunited owners with stolen pets, told the News the situation was "absolutely awful".

She said: "Polly really badly needs urgent medication and she will be getting poorly. She not much more than a puppy and her family are absolutely devestated.

Debbie added that French bulldogs are targeted because they are a "hugely popular breed and such little characters".

Police are investigating

Police are now investigating the alleged dognapping.

A Cambridgeshire police spokeswoman said: "We were called at 9.40am on April 17 to reports that a dog had been stolen in Gorefield Road, Leverington.

"At about 5pm the previous day the owner had briefly left the French bulldog in the garden of her property, but when she returned it was not there."
