A Cambridgeshire man has shot remarkable footage of what appears to be a UFO hovering in the sky above.

The video, filmed yesterday evening (April 22), shows a ball of light floating above the sky near Landbeach.

It appears to flicker and move.

“I went out for a cigarette before bed, it must have been about 11 oclock at night, and I saw these two lights," the resident, who did not wish to be identified, said.

"One was roughly 300 ft in the air and white, the other hovering just above the tree line and orange. The orange one hovered for about five minutes before disappearing out of view. The one you can see hovered for at least 15 minutes. It was still there after I got the footage and went back inside.”

He told the News that it was west of Landbeach, and he estimates it was "just two miles away", which means the light would have been hovering almost directly above the river Cam, and eight miles north of Cambridge.

He explained how, at first, he thought it was a star.

“At first I thought it was just a star, until it started moving, but not like anything Ive seen," he continued.

"It darted around slightly, and went behind a tree before coming out again. It felt like it was staring at me.

“Im quite spooked, Im not a person who goes out looking for stuff like UFOs, but I cant think of anything that would explain it. If it was a helicopter or aeroplane Id have heard the engine. It could have been a drone, but I just dont think the light looks right”.

A return of the Cambridge aliens?

This is not the first time lights like this have been spotted over Cambridgeshire. Similar accounts were reported last August of an Orange ball of light, prompting East Anglia UFO group to investigate Cambridges surrounding areas. However, this is the first time we have seen footage of the light.

Speaking at the time, club chairman Tony Buckingham said: "Around 95 percent of sighting are mistakes or hoaxes… but some are unexplained and stunning. In previous weeks also there have been other whispers not far from Chatteris. In the last couple weeks we've had half a dozen sightings come in."

Mr Buckingham added that the main hot spot for sightings in the region is between Haverhill and Stowmarket, but the Fens is also known to have had its "fair share" over the years.

The East Anglia UFO group has an office in Littleport and holds monthly meetings in Newmarket which are open to the public.

One witness claimed she saw a similar "cluster of sparkles" last summer.

"I saw a similar phenomenon last summer driving toward Milton from Cottenham," she said.

"This was about 10pm and it was a clear skied night. I saw clusters of white sparkles in the horizon that disappeared then reappeared in another section of the skyline.

“I thought they were stars at first then some flew off at upward angles. It really freaked me out. I remember telling people at work the next day but I didn't have any evidence.. Then I just forgot about it. Seeing this footage I'm certain it's the same thing."
