Video footage has revealed the extent of the shocking damage caused by a 'street race' in one of the city's most notorious roads.
Emergency services responded to the six-vehicle crash on Fen Road at around 7.30pm, which witnesses have described as a 'street race gone wrong'.
The footage shows the horrific aftermath of the incident, where bits of car parts and debris are littered across the road.
An officer at the scene said one person was treated for a slight injury but not taken to hospital.
"We're surprised no-one was seriously injured," he added.
Officers added that a driver of one of the crashed vehicles ran off, and no arrests have been made.
An East of England Ambulance spokesman said: "We received a call at 7.37pm to reports of a multiple vehicle road traffic incident in Water Street, Cambridge.
"The East of England Ambulance Service Trust dispatched two ambulance crews and a rapid response vehicle.
"Working with our emergency colleagues, we treated several walking wounded patients, but no one required hospital care and [they were] discharged at the scene."
A Cambridgeshire Constabulary spokeswoman said: "We were called at around 7.30pm.
"Six vehicles were involved but it doesnt look like anyone was hurt.
"Fire and ambulance went as well and recovery are there at the moment.
"The driver of one vehicle ran off but their vehicle is still there. Crime scene officers are at the scene.”
