Shocking footage shows thugs hurling dead pheasants at a victim and using a dead rabbit to hit a cyclist before driving off in a notorious Cambridge area.
The CCTV footage has been obtained by the News as part of an investigation into a spate of dangerous driving, attacks and anti-social behaviour on Fen Road and surrounding streets.
It shows a man being attacked after a car pulls up outside a shop. One pheasant is thrown at the victim's head and when he confronts his attackers other dead birds are thrown.
The victim is then punched in the head from behind and as he lies on the ground the attackers drive off, narrowly avoiding running over the man's legs.
And further CCTV footage shows a cyclist being hit by a passenger of a moving car using a dead rabbit – and again almost running the rider over.
The footage comes after a six-car crash caused by a "street race gone wrong" and a car crashing into a level crossing within two days as well as a litany of other acts of violence and anti-social behaviour.
Pheasant attack victim speaks out
Now the victim has told of the shocking moments who was assaulted by a group of men who used dead birds as weapons in a bizarre and unprovoked attack.
The man, who is in his 50s and who asked not to be named, said: "A car pulled up and a man got out of it and threw a dead pheasant at me out of the blue and it hit me on the head.
"A 2 kilo pheasant hitting you on the head is painful. They threw two other pheasants at me and knocked me unconcious. I still have one of the pheasants in my freezer. They must have been out lamping, hunting rabbits and pheasants, because they shone it right in my face.
"It's constant along here, Fen Road, Water Lane and Green End Road. Last summer two lads lamped me and they threw chips at my friend
"They put a CCTV camera up but that was vandalised and we are still waiting for them to put another one up.
"We are having a meeting with the police and the council and it is going to get very angry. I might take the dead pheasant there and swing it around my head. It is getting ridiculous."
Evidence of attacks
The News walked with the victim along the road yesterday where there was evidence of a window being egged and an air rifle that had been used to smash a window.
Fen Road is a mix of residential housing and more than 200 travellers pitches.
Incidents include a rocket firework being fired from a car at cyclists and pedestrians.
Drivers have also been swerving into pedestrians and objects have been thrown at cyclists from passing cars.
Scores of incidents have been reported
In one the doors of a vehicle were left open as it mounted a pavement to scare pedestrians and youths with air guns have been shooting at passing vehicles.
A meeting about the anti-social behaviour has been called by local councillor and will be attended by residents and police.
It will be held at 7pm on May 8 at Shirley School.
Police are investigating the dead animal attack incidents and appealed for any information. Call police on 101.
