President Trump has appeared to contradict his new lawyer, the former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani.
Mr Giuliani has said that Mr Trump knew about his former lawyer issuing a payment to porn star Stormy Daniels as part of a non-disclosure agreement, and that the President had repaid him through monthly retainers.
Mr Trump had previously denied knowing about the payments.
"Rudy is a great guy, but he just started a day ago," Mr Trump told reporters, saying Mr Giuliani was "working hard and learning the subject matter".
"He'll get his facts straight," Mr Trump continued.
"It's actually very simple, but there's a lot of misinformation".
Mr Trump also told reporters he would "love to" speak to Robert Mueller, the man leading the investigation into allegations of Russian interference in the presidential election, but he wants to ensure he would be "treated fairly".
"I would love to speak, nobody wants to speak more than me," he said, adding "but I have to find that we'd be treated fairly".
