A huge fluffy dog was the star of the River Cam as people punted in the sunshine.
Mia, a 14-month old Chow Chow, floated past hoards of boats to the delight of everyone she passed.
Her owner Mark Alsop, 44, from Fulbourn, decided to take her along for a spot of punting with his partner and friends yesterday afternoon (May 5).
"Virtually every punt we went passed we got a reaction," he said.
"Her picture was taken constantly,"
"There were lots of hen parties out on the river and they were excited."
Mark, who works for Marshals Aerospace, admitted that it took a little while for Mia to adjust to the river scene.
"At first she didn't like it," he explained.
"Because the river was so busy, boats were banging into each other and it was just chaos.
"It was a little bit too hot for her. Next time we will go when it's more cloudy and less busy, but we will definitely do it again."
Mark explained that Chow Chow's, a breed originating from northern China, are actually kept cool by their abundant fur.
Shaving a Chow can contribute to skin problems.
"They are actually very rare," added Mark. "She's a brilliant dog, she's got a lovely temperament."
When Mia is out on walks around the Recreation Ground in Fulbourn she is constantly trying to make friends.
"She goes and sees every dog on the rec," explained Mark. "She will never bark at other dogs, never growl."
Such is Mark's affection for Mia that if he ever got another pet, it would only be a Chow.
"We wouldn't have another dog now," he said. "We love Chows. They are so calm and pleasant when you are out with them."
