Meghan Markle, 39, and her husband Prince Harry have a combined net worth of £37 million. It’s a sum that is likely to soar this year thanks to the couple’s recent multi-million Netflix and Spotify deals.
Before becoming the Duchess of Sussex and a member of the Royal Family, Meghan was a successful actress.
Her most high-profile role to date is playing Rachel Zane in the USA Network show Suits, for which she was paid £37,000 per episode and an annual salary of around £330,000.
She appeared in over 100 episodes and seven seasons of the show, from 2011 to 2017.
In 2010, Meghan also starred in the films Remember Me, which earned her £137,000, and The Candidate, for which she received £125,000.
According to Money.com, Meghan was said to have an estimated £4 million in the bank before she married Prince Harry in May 2018.
In January 2020, the royal couple announced that they would be stepping down from their roles and duties as senior members of the royal family, therefore losing the titles ‘His Royal Highness’ and ‘Her Royal Highness’ respectively.
They officially stepped down on March 31, 2020 and moved first to Canada and later to the United States.
In August last year, it was revealed that Meghan and Harry had purchased a home in Montecito, California for £10.75 million.
Last September, it was announced that the couple had signed a multi-year deal with streaming platform Netflix. The deal could be worth as much as £110 million.
In December, Meghan and Harry also signed a deal with Spotify to produce and host their own podcasts through production company Archewell Audio.
The contract has been estimated at between £26 million and £55 million.
Two episodes of their podcast have already been launched, where Meghan and Harry speak to multiple famous guests, including Sir Elton John, Deepak Chopra and Naomi Osaka.
Harry’s brother, Prince William, has a net worth of £29 million, while his wife the Duchess of Cambridge has a net worth of £7 million.
This means that the Royal brothers are neck-in-neck when it comes to their finances.
Harry and Meghan’s combined net worth is only slightly higher than the Cambridges’.
However, according to Newsweek.com, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s net worth could hit £7 billion.
Other investors and shareholders could be on the horizon after Spotify and Netflix, making that sum possible.
At the end of last year, Meghan also invested in the company Clevr Blends, which makes instant oat-milk lattes at £21 for a bag containing 14 servings.
If experts are right, Meghan and Harry’s combined net worth could surpass Queen Elizabeth’s.
Currently, the richest member of the Royal Family, her net worth stands at £366 million.
