Two people have been rushed to hospital after a six-vehicle crash took place on Newmarket Road this morning (October 13).

The accident took place just before 7.45 am today (October 13), with Newmarket Road being blocked for an hour and a half and congestion building to routes through Stow Cum Quy.

Following the accident, a rapid response vehicle, two ambulances, an ambulance officer, and a car from the East Anglian Air Ambulance were sent to the scene.

Police also arrived at the scene after receiving a call at 7.45 am with reports of the collision on the A1303.

Travel site inrix reports the accident involved half a dozen vehicles.

The East Ambulance service said in a statement: “We were called to Newmarket Road shortly before 7.50 am today following reports of a collision.

“We sent a rapid response vehicle, two ambulances, an ambulance officer, and a car from the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
