A man from Cambridgeshire has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after a woman died in a crash in Essex.

Emergency services were called to the A120 near Harwich at around 6.45am on Saturday (December 11) following reports of a collision between a Suzuki Ignis and Mercedes Sprinter van.

The woman in her 40s from Ramsey, sadly died at the scene, Essex Live reports.

Essex Police said the woman’s family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

The 37-year-old was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drink/drugs. He remains in custody.

The A120 was closed for several hours while police were at the scene.

Officers are now appealing to anyone with information which may help their investigation to call 101 quoting incident number 308 of December 11.
